| Summary, etc. | La celebración del 27 Concurso de Arte Eduardo León Jimenes fue una de las notas sobresalientes del panorama de las artes visuales de la República Dominicana durante el año 2018. La celebración coincidió con el 15 aniversario del Centro León, cuya fundación tiene su origen precisamente en el acervo cultural que este concurso ha dado al arte dominicano desde su primera edición en 1964.<br/>La realización del 27 Concurso de Arte Eduardo León Jimenes coincidió este año con la celebración del 15 aniversario del Centro León (2003), cuyo origen está relacionado directamente con el certamen creado por los hermanos León Asensio en 1964. El concurso y las bases se divulgaron ampliamente logrando una participación de 241 artistas individuales y 10 colectivos (mediante un proceso de inscripción completamente digital), superando considerablemente el número de artistas y obras del concurso anterior. Para ampliar el alcance más allá de las salas expositivas, se añadieron nuevas dimensiones: Dimensión Caribe, que se representó con la residencia de la artista guadalupense Minia Biabiany; Dimensión Móvil, que plantea un análisis crítico del arte público en Santiago, curada por Alex Martínez y con la participación de los artistas Scherezade García, Raúl Morilla e Iliana Emilia García; y las otras dos dimensiones correspondieron a Curaduría e Investigación Crítica. |
