En junio de 1959, a 29 años de la despedida dictadura de Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, decenas de hombres jóvenes valientes, dominicanos en su gran mayoría, apoyados por extranjeros, fraguaron los sueños de libertad del pueblo. En uno de los más puros episodios de amor a la Patria, organizaron en el exilio una lucha armada para enfrentar el sanguinario régimen, negador de todas las libertades, desembarcando por montañas y mar, para encontrar la furia del monstruo que apagó sus vidas con las más inenarrables torturas, encierros y muertes. Cincuenta y cuatro años después, protagonistas de la gesta y de los movimientos de lucha que le sucedieron, narran al mundo sus dolores y sufrimientos, la agonía de sus familiares y su firme decisión de libertad o muerte. La dictadura trujillista se extendió hasta el 30 de mayo de 1961, con la muerte del tirano, y fueron los hombres de la Raza inmortal quienes nos motivaron a perder el miedo. |
