Minerva Mirabal: historia de una heroína, fue publicada por primera vez en 1982, y desde entonces, se han hecho tres ediciones, la última en 1997. Su autor William Galván, hace un estudio profundo de las condiciones sociales, económicas, culturales y políticas de la realidad dominicana que dieron origen a la tiranía trujillista, introduciendo de inmediato al lector dentro del contexto epocal. Narra, además, los acontecimientos que influyeron en el desplome del régimen, los crímenes más importantes, el conflicto con la Iglesia Católica, el deterioro de las relaciones internacionales con los Estados Unidos y la OEA. Y nos muestra, por último, a una mujer extraordinaria, madre, esposa, hermana, profesional del Derecho, revolucionaria, con grandes dotes artísticas y humanas, que supo entregarse sin condiciones a la causa de la libertad. Una mujer que prefirió el sacrificio, la cárcel y la muerte antes que doblegarse o negar sus ideas. |
