| Summary, etc. | Rilke escribió El testamento a partir de una serie de apuntes, anotaciones y borradores de cartas que recogió a finales de abril de 1921, tras un invierno pasado en Suiza. Sinceramente íntimos, esbozaban los problemas y preocupaciones de una etapa de su vida en la que se habían hecho más fuertes las contradicciones entre su labor creadora y el medio que le rodeaba. Son los años en que la Primera Guerra Mundial y los cambios de residencia obstaculizaban su libre entrega a la tarea poética. En esta época andaba escribiendo Elegías de Duino, considerada su obra capital. |
