Femeninas y Epitalamio resumen el quehacer literario de Valle-Inclán en su época juvenil, inscribiéndole en la corriente modernistas. En palabras del propio autor se trata de una literatura de imágenes desusadas, ingenuas, atrevidas y detonantes, que pretende refinar las sensaciones y acrecentarlas en el número y la intensidad. Valle-Inclán nos presenta en ellas un mundo ajeno a la vida diaria, a la vulgaridad y los convencionalismos sociales.
