Tierra Adentro, como novela histórica, relata las causas que llevaron a un grupo de hombres de la alta sociedad capitalina a tramar la muerte de un presidente cuyo liderazgo tuvo su origen en el ajusticiamiento del general Ulises Heureaux, hecho que lo catapultó a la política caudillista para compartir, con su pariente Horacio Vásquez, su incidencia en la juventud soñadora; ambos tenidos como políticos que en cierta forma representaron las ansias de redención, capaces de impulsar el progreso y la libertad de los dominicanos; pero el signo de la política personalista terminó por separar a los dos héroes del 26 de julio, lo que contribuyó al trágico final del 19 de noviembre de 1911. |
